SAN DIEGO – Returning home for their final non-conference game of the season, the San Diego women's basketball team (3-5, 0-0 WCC) are back in action Saturday afternoon as they host the CSUN Matadors (2-7, 0-2 Big West) on Dec. 14 at 2:00 p.m. from Jenny Craig Pavilion.
LAST TIME OUT
- USD is looking to bounce back from a double digit road loss their last time out as Boise State bested the Toreros by a 76-59 final score on Sunday, Dec. 8 from ExtraMile Arena.
- Playing in their hometown for the first time in their collegiate careers, Ava Ranson and Lauren McCall each got the start and combined to score 22 points and collect seven rebounds against the Broncos.
- Putting together another strong performance for her team, Kylie Horstmeyer scored 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting against Boise State while collecting an assist and rebound as well.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. CSUN
- Saturday afternoon's game against the Matadors will be the 24th ever meeting between the programs with San Diego holding the 19-4 overall advantage.
- The Toreros have won 12 straight match ups against CSUN, as the two teams met last season in Northridge with USD earning the 85-61 victory at Premier America Credit Union Arena.
- San Diego used an all-around team performance in last season's victory with six players in double figures as Kylie Horstmeyer and Courtney Wristen each scored 12 points in the victory.
SCOUTING THE MATADORS
- CSUN enters this weekend with a 2-7 record as they beat La Sierra and Utah State to start the season but have dropped seven consecutive games.
- Junior guard Morgan Edwards has started all nine games for the Matadors this season and is leading her team by averaging 8.9 PPG as well as one steal per game to start the 2024-25 campaign.
- Head coach Angie Ned is in her first season leading the CSUN women's hoops program after spending the previous nine years as the associate head coach for California Baptist women's basketball.
