SAN DIEGO - The San Diego women's basketball program (4-17, 0-8 WCC) dropped an 80-52 decision against the No. 19 Gonzaga Bulldogs (21-2, 8-0 WCC) on Thursday night in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Graduate guard Dylan Horton led the way for the Toreros scoring 13 points, while Kylie Horstmeyer was just behind her with 12, as well as notching three rebounds.  Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thursday night's contest started off slow, as both teams combined to shoot 1-for-11 in the opening three and a half minutes.
- The Bulldogs began to break away and opened up an early eight point lead as the first quarter came to a close.
- Two clutch threes from sophomore guard Maddie Vejsicky and junior Claire Gallagher provided the Toreros with some much needed energy as the first half concluded, but the Bulldogs led by a 38-20 margin.
- Five quick points in the third quarter from Horton gave San Diego some life, but Gonzaga continued to hit from deep, pushing the score to 68-37 as the third period of play concluded.
- A layup from sophomore forward Melesungu Afeaki in the final minute pushed the score to 80-52, but Gonzaga emerged with the victory.Â

TORERO TIDBITS
- Sophomore Veronica Sheffey pulled in a career high eight rebounds and tied her career high with eight assists.
- As a whole, the Toreros kept level with the Bulldogs on the glass, with each team gathering 40 rebounds.
- The Torero bench outscored the Gonzaga bench by a margin of 17-10.Â
