- San Diego State added two runs in the fourth inning and another in the fifth to expand the lead further.
- The Toreros attempted a rally in the bottom of the fifth inning, as Limon opened with a single and Carly Ruiz reached on a throwing error off a bunt to give San Diego runners on the corners with no outs.
- Mikalyn Emanuelli made the Aztecs pay with an RBI single and cut the lead to 8-2.
- However, the Toreros were unable to get any more runs home, as Ruiz was left stranded on third base.
