SAN DIEGO – The No. 14 San Diego men's tennis program (13-2, 1-0 WCC) took home the Ed Collins Spring Classic title, defeating No. 22 Arizona State (12-6, 0-0 PAC-12) 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After meeting less than six weeks ago, the two sides returned to the Hogan Tennis Center on a bright and warm Sunday afternoon.
• Arizona State took the doubles point back in February, but faced more resistance this time from the Torero doubles teams.
• Stian Klaassen and Oliver Tarvet remained undefeated with a convincing 6-2 win, but the Sun Devils won on court one to bring the decision down to court three.
• The Toreros forced a tiebreaker in that match, but were unable to secure the doubles point.
• Turning their attention to singles, the Toreros got off to a hot start.
• Klaassen steamrolled to a huge lead and subsequently earned 6-1, 6-0 victory to tie the match at 1-1.
• While the Sun Devils took a brief 2-1 lead, Tarvet and Iiro Vasa quickly changed that.
• Tarvet defeated No. 3 Murphy Cassone for the second time, cruising to a 6-2, 6-3 victory, while Vasa downed his opponent in straight sets.
• With action down to courts five and six, Sacchitt Sharrma and Savriyan Danilov both closed in on a victory.
• Both Toreros won their first sets and were in tight second sets with the match on the line.
• While Sharrma was able to rally from a break point down in the second set to force a tiebreaker, it was Danilov who managed to clinch, breaking a 4-4 deadlock to win 6-4 and secure the match.

• The Toreros will continue their homestand and wrap up the non-conference slate, hosting No. 55 SMU on Sunday, Mar. 24 at 10 a.m., at the Hogan Tennis Center.
