SAN DIEGO – The San Diego softball program (9-25, 0-0 WCC) rallied all the way back from a six-run deficit, but fell short in extra innings following a rain delay, falling 12-6 to Weber State (12-15, 0-0 Big Sky) in nine innings on Saturday afternoon at the USD Softball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED – WEBER STATE 12, SAN DIEGO 6 (F/9)
- After a scoreless first inning, the Toreros fell into an early hole, as Weber State scored six runs in the second inning.
- Nevertheless, the Toreros would not give in and began to chip away at the lead.
- Tele Jennings opened the second inning with a triple and was driven home on a grounder to second base by Alyssa Hernandez to make it 6-1.
- From there, Courtney Rose took over in relief and put together a standout performance, tallying 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out five.
- Her offense continued to chip away, as Amanda Limon led off the third inning with a hit-by-pitch and Arisa Tovar followed that up with a single.
- A Taylor Johnson walk loaded the bases and the Toreros would then strike for two more runs, following a Weber State error to make it 6-3.
- The momentum carried into the fourth inning, as Mikalyn Emanuelli led off the inning with a double.
- Limon would drive her home shortly thereafter on an RBI single to make it 6-4.
- The comeback would be complete in the sixth inning, as Kaitlyn Wynia led off the frame with a triple, before Emanuelli followed with her own triple to make it 6-5.
- Limon would then tie the game at 6-6 with an RBI sacrifice fly.
- San Diego nearly earned the victory in the bottom of the seventh inning, as they loaded the bases with no one out behind a double from Jennings and two walks from Hernandez and Wynia.
- However, Weber State got a break, as Emanuelli's liner was snared right at third base and Weber State tagged Jennings at third base for a double play and the Toreros would not be able to get the winning run across.
- After a scoreless eighth inning, the game would go into a rain delay of 1:14.
- The Wildcats reclaimed the momentum in the ninth inning after the delay, hitting a home run and ultimately tacking on six runs to secure the win.
