LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The San Diego softball program (10-28, 0-0 WCC) dropped a pair of games to New Mexico State (20-12, 6-3 CUSA) on Friday afternoon, falling 9-2 in game one and 7-6 in game two at the NM State Softball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED – NEW MEXICO STATE 9, SAN DIEGO 2
- Friday's opener got off to a slow start, as Courtney Rose opened with two hitless innings to start the game.
- The Aggies were able to strike for a run in the third inning on an RBI single, but the Toreros would have a response the next time up to bat.
- Freshman Tele Jennings stepped up to the plate and launched her first collegiate home run to center field on a 1-1 pitch to tie the game up at 1-1.
- However, the Aggies jumped back ahead in the fourth inning, as some small ball turned into a big inning for the home side.
- New Mexico State would tally eight runs, but on just four hits, as the Aggies benefited from three San Diego errors.
- Needing a run to extend the game, the Toreros did just that, as Mikalyn Emanuelli led off the fifth inning with a single and advanced to second.
- From there, Joecellia Roberts drove in Emanuelli with an RBI single to make it 9-2.
- While Kelsey Tadlock would deliver 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, the Toreros could get no closer and left a pair of runs on the bases in the seventh inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED – NEW MEXICO STATE 7, SAN DIEGO 6
- Game two proved to be a back-and-forth affair that featured several lead changes.
- San Diego would be the first to strike in the second inning, as Arisa Tovar led off the frame with a single and Carly Ruiz put runners on second and third inning off a single and error.
- After delivering a spark against Arizona State, EJ Joyner continued her strong run of form with a two RBI single to give San Diego an early advantage.
- New Mexico State slowly chipped away, scoring one run in the second and third inning to tie the game at 2-2.
- However, Joyner delivered yet another big hit, launching her first home run of the season to left field to put the Toreros back in front 3-2.
- After an RBI single in the fourth tied the game once again, the Aggies jumped back ahead with a three-run fifth inning to lead 6-3.
- An Aggie home run in the sixth inning but the Toreros in an even larger hole, but they would not quit.
- An Amanda Limon bunt single and Ruiz walk gave Jennings a chance to extend the game.
- The freshman did so with an RBI double to make it 7-4.
- Tovar was the next up and attacked a 1-1 pitch to lace a two-run double to left center field and cut the lead to 7-6.
- However, the Toreros were unable to complete the rally, stranding pinch runner Lauren Asia at second base.

TORERO TIDBITS
- Limon extended her hitting streak and on-base streak to 14 consecutive games.
- San Diego has home runs in three of their last four games after just two in the previous 34 games.
- Rose (316) matched Madison Earnshaw for fifth on the Toreros all-time strikeout list in the game one loss.
