SAN DIEGO – The San Diego softball program (6-16, 0-0 WCC) tied the game late, but could not hang on and ultimately fell, 3-1 to CSUN (16-5, 0-0 Big West) on Friday afternoon at Margie Wright Diamond.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- While Courtney Rose got off to a hot start in the circle, the Toreros put early pressure on the Matadors starter.
- Tele Jennings singled to lead off the game but the Toreros ultimately stranded the runner.
- In the second, Amanda Limon and Kaitlyn Wynia delivered back-to-back singles to put a runner in scoring position, but both were left on the basepaths.
- In the third inning, Jennings walked and Taylor Johnson singled to put runners on first and second with no outs, but once again the Matadors danced out of trouble.
- Meanwhile, Rose tore through the Matadors batting order, tallying four strikeouts and allowing just one hit through three innings.
- While San Diego had another baserunner in the fourth inning, it was CSUN who managed to get a run home in the bottom half of the frame to lead 1-0.
- Needing a spark, the Toreros got it in the sixth inning, as Michelle Delgado delivered a one out single and was moved to second on a groundout.
- Arisa Tovar stepped up to the plate and delivered a first pitch single to left field to score Delgado and tied the game at 1-1.
- However, CSUN would get a one out RBI double to go ahead in the sixth inning and added one more insurance to secure the win.
