SAN DIEGO – The No. 15 San Diego men's tennis program (19-3, 6-1 WCC) improved to 13-0 at home this season, defeating Gonzaga (7-9, 2-4 WCC), 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With the season winding down, the Toreros started quickly as they close in on another potential WCC regular season title.
- Doubles proved to be fruitful for the Toreros, as Stian Klaassen and Oliver Tarvet remained perfect, while Sacchitt Sharrma and Nikhil Niranjan teamed up for a win for the first time in a dual match this season.
- After taking the doubles point, the Toreros turned their attention to singles.
- Much like Saturday, the Toreros would take the opening set in all six singles matches.
- Savriyan Danilov cruised past his opponent in a dominant, 6-1, 6-0 showing to put San Diego ahead 2-0.
- From there, it was a race to see who could finish next, as Sharrma returned to the lineup with a 6-3, 6-4 win, before Neo Niedner wrapped up his match, 6-1, 6-3.
NEXT UP
- The Toreros will wrap up the 2024 regular season on Saturday, hosting LMU at 2:30 p.m. at the Hogan Center.
