Track & Field Turns in Record Breaking Weekend

AZUSA, CA – San Diego Track & Field wrapped up competition this weekend after attending both the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Leopard Distance Carnival Meet, turning in multiple strong performances including a near best by Daniella Hubble in the 3km steeplechase and school records by Russell Gokemeijer and Jake Coleman in the 800m and 10km, respectively.

"I was proud of all three for they were part of a big stage as this meet brings athletes from all over the country," said head coach William Guarino. "This experience will benefit them going forward, and it will be passed down to the rest of the team as well. I was proud of Daniella for racing in a higher stage at Azusa. She adjusted well and ran 6th in her heat in the 3km steeple. She came back in the last segment of the race."

The Toreros raced in six races at the Bryan Clay Invitational over the course of the three day meet; all races that they had to qualify for. The Leopard Distance Carnival Meet took place on Friday and featured sixteen USD athletes.

"The evening at La Verne was a testament to our team's dedication and improvement," continues Guarino. "Their collective effort and improvement reflect positively on our team as a whole."
