HOW IT HAPPENED – PACIFIC 4, SAN DIEGO 2
- In a game that ultimately ended as a low-scoring affair, the Toreros threatened to strike from the very beginning, as Amanda Limon singled and Taylor Johnson drew a hit-by-pitch on the first two at-bats of the day.
- However, the Tigers got a pair of strikeouts to escape unscathed.
- Courtney Rose took the circle for the Toreros and was sharp once again, getting a first inning strikeout and kept the Tigers off the board for the first four innings.
- San Diego started the third inning with similar momentum, as Carly Ruiz singled and Limon moved her over with a sacrifice bunt, but the Tigers danced around trouble for another scoreless frame.
- A pair of singles in the fourth inning from Michelle Delgado and Arisa Tovar gave San Diego another chance, but Pacific kept the Toreros off the board once again.
- Pacific finally broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning, as they drove in a run on a fielder's choice.
- However, an unfortunate deflection on a hit up the middle by Pacific's Jordan Hayes resulted in the ball getting all the way to the warning track, allowing three more runs to score to make it 4-0.
- San Diego made one final rally attempt in the seventh inning, as EJ Joyner singled and Mikalyn Emanuelli walked to put two runners on.
- Limon legged out an infield single with two outs and two runs came home on the play, cutting the lead to 4-2.
- However, Pacific secured the final out via a strikeout to win the game.
