SAN DIEGO – After throwing the first perfect game in program history, sophomore
Kelsey Tadlock has been named the WCC Pitcher of the Week, as the conference announced on Tuesday.
Â
The award is the first in the career of Tadlock. She becomes the fourth different Torero pitcher to win the honor this season, joining
McKenna Braegelmann,
Courtney Rose and
Mo Wimpee.
Â
Tadlock made history in the Toreros win at Pacific, throwing the first perfect game in school history and just the sixth-ever no-hit performance. The sophomore struck out a career-high seven batters and commanded the zone against the Tigers from the start. Tadlock's efforts gave the Toreros offense time to come together and explode for a seven-run inning in the fifth to run rule the Tigers, 9-0 in five innings.
Â
The San Marcos, Calif., native tallied the fourth complete game of her career and the first for her this season. Tadlock completed the perfect game in an astonishing 50 pitches.
Â
The Toreros will have an off weekend, before welcoming Saint Mary's for a key four-game set, that begins on Friday, May 3.
