San Diego Softball Unveils Full 2026 Schedule

The Toreros will play 49 total games this spring with the new season beginning in February

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego softball program and head coach MJ Knighten are excited to unveil the program's full 2026 schedule on Thursday afternoon.

In total, USD softball will be competing in 49 total games during the 2026 campaign. The Toreros have 25 home games scheduled for the full first season at the Reggie Smith Softball Complex, and 24 road games that will take USD softball to Northern and Southern California, Arizona and the Pacific Northwest.

"We're thrilled about this year's schedule and the opportunity to play more than half of our games at home," Knighten said. "Last season, we got a glimpse of what our stadium feels like when it's packed with high energy, loud noise, and tremendous pride; it was electric. That type of atmosphere fuels our players and gives them something bigger to play for. We're eager to make that a consistent home-field advantage this spring. This team has been putting in the work, growing together, and embracing what it means to play for something greater than themselves. I'm excited to see that translate onto the field and continue building something truly special for Torero softball."

USD will begin their new journey in Northern California on February 6 when they take on UC Davis and Cal Poly for an opening day doubleheader on the UC Davis campus.

The Toreros will then wrap their weekend with three more games in Sacramento to wrap up the Davis tournament before returning home to sunny San Diego.

Looking forward to year two at the beautiful Reggie Smith Softball Complex, USD's home opener will take place on Thursday, February 12 as they will play a doubleheader against Weber State beginning at 4:00 p.m. These opening games will be part of a joint tournament between USD and UC San Diego, with two more Torero home games scheduled against Southern Utah and Colorado State on February 13.

After the conclusion of that weekend's tournament, the Toreros will head back on the road and head east to Phoenix to compete in Grand Canyon's Tournament from February 20-22. USD will take on a collection of quality opponents that weekend, including: Grand Canyon, Montana, North Florida and UC Santa Barbara.

Once the calendar flips to March, the Toreros will host some quality opponents for a joint tournament with San Diego State. USD will battle against Notre Dame on March 6 and will play Princeton twice later that weekend.

Getting West Coast Conference action started in late March, San Diego will head to the Pacific Northwest for their first conference road series as they will take on Oregon State in a three game series from March 27-29 in Corvallis.

USD will then return home the following weekend for their conference home opening series against Southern California foe LMU from April 2-4. The Toreros will then head to the Bay Area to do battle with reigning WCC champion Santa Clara from April 10-12.

Looking ahead to the final series of the 2026 season, USD will wrap up the season on their home diamond against the newest WCC member Seattle U from May 7-9. The series finale against the Redhawks will serve as Senior Day for the Torero program as first pitch on May 9 will be at noon.

San Diego returns numerous key pieces from last season's squad including infielder Taylor Johnson, utility player Shawnese Hogue-Lacy, pitcher Kelsey Tadlock and outfielder Kaitlyn Wynia. All four of these USD student-athletes put together quality 2025 campaigns as they look to help the Toreros in the new year.

Key transfers Kaylee Oh and Charlie Johnson are expected to fill important roles in the new season, while the USD coaching staff was busy on the recruiting trail as they signed six players for the upcoming season.
