SAN DIEGO – The No. 13 San Diego men's tennis program (15-2, 2-0 WCC) heads out for a three-match stretch in conference play, facing No. 53 Santa Clara (14-3, 1-1 WCC), Saint Mary's (6-9, 1-2 WCC) and Pacific (12-1, 2-0 WCC).
The Toreros will play the Broncos on Thursday at 1 p.m., before traveling to face the Gaels on Saturday at 2 p.m., and the Tigers on Sunday at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
- San Diego took home a key WCC victory, defeating No. 39 Pepperdine, 4-1 on Friday at the Hogan Tennis Center.
- The Toreros picked up their eighth win over a ranked team and took sole possession of first place in the conference.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- San Diego checks in as the No. 13 team in the nation according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.
- Oliver Tarvet enters the week as the reigning WCC Singles Player of the Week, following a pair of top-40 wins over opponents from SMU and Pepperdine.
- The Toreros have had at least one weekly WCC award winner in eight of the first 11 weeks of the season and swept four weeks.
- Tarvet leads the way for the Toreros in the national rankings, rising back to No. 5 in the nation in singles according to the latest ITA rankings.
- Iiro Vasa ranks No. 86 in the nation in singles, while Stian Klaassen and Sacchitt Sharrma check in at No. 57 in the country in doubles.
- Tarvet has already tallied four WCC Singles Player of the Week honors and has maintained a strong grip on the No. 1 singles position, entering the weekend at 23-5 overall.
- In addition, Tarvet has taken home five WCC Doubles Team of the Week awards, tallying three with Vasa and his last two with Klaassen.
- The sophomore is also 17-1 in doubles overall, including an undefeated record with Klaassen.
