SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 13 San Diego men's tennis program (16-2, 3-0 WCC) completed a rain-delayed match that started on Thursday, by polishing off the final three points on Friday, defeating No. 53 Santa Clara (14-4, 1-2 WCC), 4-0, at the Degheri Tennis Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• In a match marred by rain and wind, the Toreros would rise to the occasion, after the initial start time was delayed by two hours.
• The Broncos provided stiff resistance in doubles, as they took an early break on court three, but Stian Klaassen and Oliver Tarvet breezed to a 6-0 decision on court two.
• Sacchitt Sharrma and Iiro Vasa were able to save a match point at 6-5, before rallying to win the tiebreaker, 7-5 and put the Toreros ahead 1-0.
• In singles, the Toreros took four of the first six sets, but the Broncos would not go quietly.
• While Klaassen continued his huge season with a 6-4, 6-1 win, the Broncos started to rally on court one and put the pressure to get a point on court three.
• Vasa gave San Diego a 3-0 advantage with his straight set win, but the rain began to trickle in.
• Neo Niedner secured a second set break point to go up 5-3 and 15-all in the possible clinching game, but the skies opened up and forced the stoppage of play.
• Play resumed on Friday at 10 a.m., as Niedner needed three points to secure the victory and got it done, to clinch a 4-0 win.

• The Toreros will continue their WCC road trip on Saturday, facing Saint Mary's in Moraga, Calif., at 2 p.m.
