Track & Field Concludes Triton Invitational

SAN DIEGO - San Diego Track & Field turned in another strong showing on the track at the UCSD for the Triton Invitational on Saturday.

"This meet marks the halfway point of our track season," said head coach William Guarino. "It was exciting to see an outstanding fight from the team. We do have some things to improve on as we analyze starts, finishes, and also tactics. We have turned now to harvest season as we enjoy the benefits of our work as the focus is to continuously be at our best."

The Toreros ended the day with 11 personal bests, including a 12th best USD-time in the 1500m from Daniella Hubble at 4:40.75.

"Aryam Jaime's victory in the 2nd section was strong. It was good for me to watch her run with heart and with mind," Guarino explained. "Daniella also showed courage as she raced 2nd in her heat and also came home with an outstanding performance. Maggie Duba had an outstanding double in the 800 and the 5000m. Both marked personal best. Gigi (Gianna Sbarbaro) & Zoe (Zoey Delgado) also came home with victories in their respective heats."

HOW IT HAPPENED -

The Toreros started the day with the 1500m, where nine of their athletes competed.
Daniella Hubble kicked off the action with a personal best and 12th fastest USD all-time performance of 4:40.75
Giana Sbarbaro and Zoey Delgado finished first place in their heats
The event also saw personal bests by Lizzie McVey (4:56.15), Allison Kirby (5:00.50), Nathalie Green (5:06.23), and Zoey Delgado (5:08.93)
Next up was the 800m, led by Aryam Jaimes who finished first in her heat and set a personal best at 2:16.49
We also saw personal best races by Lilly Dow (2:22.19), Maggie Duba (2:23.32), and Camryn Kozak (2:30.48)
The 5000m finished off the day for the Toreros and featured personal best races by Maggie Duba (18:35.05), Nathalie Green (19:05.91), and Lizzie McVey (20:03.88).
