Women's Soccer Battles, but Falls Short at Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. – San Diego Women's Soccer fell at the hands of Washington State Saturday night, 1-0 in the Toreros first WCC road match of the season.
 
The Cougars scored the game-winning goal in the 42nd minute and USD couldn't find an answer thereafter. Wazzu out shot the Toreros 14-6, 6-2 on target.
 
The loss ends the Toreros three-game unbeaten streak as San Diego falls to 2-5-4 on the season and 0-1-1 in West Coast Conference action.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Ilise Medrano tallied five saves as she and the Toreros in front of her have only conceded two goals in the last four games.
 
Up next, the Toreros return to America's Finest City to host Gonzaga on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m.. The match will be streamed on ESPN+ and additional coverage and updates can be found at the @USDWSoc social media pages. USD will be in search of its first WCC win under first time head coach Greg LaPorte and first since Oct. 15, 2021.
