Women's Basketball Returns Home to Face the Gaels and Dons

SAN DIEGO – Back in action on their home floor, the San Diego women's basketball team (4-13, 0-8 WCC) are set to host a pair of games this week at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Beginning the action, the Toreros will welcome the Saint Mary's Gaels (10-7, 6-2 WCC) on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 6:00 p.m. USD will then host the San Francisco Dons (8-10, 5-4 WCC) on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 2:00 p.m. as the program will be celebrating alumni weekend.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. SAINT MARY'S

  • Thursday evening's game against the Gaels will be the 72nd all-time meeting between the schools as Saint Mary's leads the series by a 48-23 margin.

  • The two teams split both games a season ago with the home team winning both games as the Toreros knocked off USF 77-66 at Jenny Craig Pavilion on Feb. 3, 2024, while the Dons bested USD by a 68-66 final score on the Hilltop on March 2, 2024.
  • Leading the way for the Toreros in their home win last season, Horstmeyer scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds and a pair of assists.

SCOUTING THE GAELS

  • Saint Mary's enters Thursday's rematch with a 10-7 record and a 6-2 mark in conference play to put them near the top of the standings. The Gaels only conference losses this season have come against both San Francisco and Washington State.
