SAN DIEGO – San Diego men's basketball will host its preseason celebration in a new format this year, welcoming fans, alumni, and supporters to the
Blue & White Game — an intrasquad showcase set for Thursday, October 16, at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
The reimagined event replaces the program's original
Tip-Off Dinner, and will feature approximately one hour of live, on-court action including team introductions, a 3-point contest, and an intrasquad scrimmage to get a first-hand look on what to expect this season. Following the on-court portion, attendees are invited to stay for a post-game meet and greet, where student-athletes and coaches will mingle with guests courtside.
The Blue & White Game marks the first official opportunity for fans to see the 2025-26 Toreros and their 14 newcomers in action in the JCP as the team continues preparations for their relaunch season in the West Coast Conference under head coach
Steve Lavin.
"We took an honest look at what was resonating and realized we had an opportunity to evolve," said Kimya Massey, USD Associate Vice President and Executive Director of Athletics. "We want to deliver experiences that feel accessible, exciting, and true to the spirit of our programs. The Blue & White Game reflects that — it's about bringing our community closer to the team and setting the tone for the season ahead."
Those who previously registered and contributed toward the Tip-Off Dinner will now receive exclusive access to a courtside reception and network experience as a part of this enhanced event. Guests will enjoy early access beginning at 5:30 p.m., featuring hors d'oeuvres, beverages, and opportunities to connect with fellow supporters, alumni and USD leadership.
