SAN DIEGO — Winners of 14 straight matches and the recipient of a league-leading 15 West Coast Conference weekly awards in 2025, San Diego volleyball (21-4, 14-0 WCC) returns home this week to take on Pepperdine (18-7, 12-2) in a crucial conference clash before traveling north to face Santa Clara (15-10, 10-4 WCC) for its final road test of the 2025 regular season.
The first-place Toreros will take on the Waves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion, and the Broncos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in the Leavey Center. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+, and live statistics will be available on StatBroadcast.
SETTING THE STAGE
• With a win over Pepperdine on Thursday night, San Diego can clinch a share of the West Coast Conference Championship and a berth into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2022.
• USD last hoisted the WCC trophy and punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament on November 19, 2022, when it defeated Pepperdine 3-1 at the Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu.
• San Diego has achieved 26 NCAA Tournament appearances and 12 WCC titles dating back to the program’s inception in 1975.
• Twenty-one of those NCAA Tournament appearances and nine of those WCC titles have come during current head coach Jennifer Petrie’s 27-year tenure.
STILL PERFECT
• USD (14-0) remains the only team still undefeated in WCC play. Pepperdine sits in second place with a 12-2 conference record, followed by Oregon State, which has a 11-4 mark in league play.
• San Diego has gone undefeated in conference play just twice before, and has done so only once under the league’s current 18-game format.
• In 2004, the Toreros went 14-0 in WCC play, and in 2022, USD was a perfect 18-0 in conference matches
FOURTEEN WINS IN A ROW
• San Diego’s current 14-game win streak dates back to September 25, 2025, spanning 56 days and ten different opponents, all within West Coast Conference play.
• The Toreros have earned season sweeps of Washington State (October 16 and October 25), Loyola Marymount (September 27 and November 1), Saint Mary’s (October 2 and November 8), Oregon State (October 11 and November 13), and Portland (October 9 and November 15) thus far.
• It’s USD’s longest win streak since 2022, when the Toreros set a program record with 28 consecutive victories en-route to the NCAA National Semifinal, which marked the longest win streak in the country that year.
MUNDAY SETS THE STANDARD, NAMED WCC SETTER OF THE WEEK
• Sophomore Kylie Munday earned her fourth WCC Setter of the Week honor of 2025 on Monday after amassing 79 assists (9.88 A/S), 16 digs, five blocks (two solo), four service aces and four kills in USD wins at Oregon State and Portland last week.
• She produced 33 assists (11.00 A/S), four digs, three blocks (two solo), a service ace and a kill in last Thursday night’s sweep over the Beavers, then notched a double-double in the Toreros’ 3-2 win over Portland last Saturday, totaling 46 assists (9.20 A/S), 12 digs, three kills, three service aces, and two blocks.
• Munday leads the WCC and ranks 39th nationally with 10.05 assists per set in 2025.
• She also ranks second in the WCC and 44th nationally with 975 total assists.
• Munday continued her dominant stretch for San Diego on Saturday afternoon, totaling 46 assists (9.2 A/S), 12 digs, two block assists, three service aces, and three kills as the Toreros rallied for a 3-2 victory over Portland on the road at the Chiles Center.
CLARK ERUPTS, EARNS SECOND WCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK RECOGNITION
• Sophomore outside hitter Isabel Clark was named the WCC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after leading the way for San Diego last week, totaling 31 kills (3.88 K/S) while hitting .315 alongside a service ace and two assists as the Toreros extended their win streak to 14 with victories at Oregon State and Portland.
• Clark boasted 12 kills (4.00 A/S) and an assist while swinging .480 in last Thursday night’s sweep at Oregon State, then delivered 19 more (3.80 A/S) with another assist and a service ace while hitting .229 in last Saturday’s 3-2 victory at Portland.
DOMINATING THE WEEKLY AWARDS
• USD has won a WCC-best 15 weekly conference honors in 2025, which have been earned by seven different players. The Toreros have won WCC Offensive Player of the Week five times, WCC Defensive Player of the Week three times, WCC Setter of the Week four times, and WCC Freshman of the Week three times.
BIG NUMBERS FROM BEACH
• Junior outside hitter Nemo Beach leads the WCC and ranks 31st nationally with 415 total kills in 2025. Her average of 4.03 kills per set ranks second in the WCC and 56th nationally.
LEADING THE WAY
• San Diego players are among the West Coast Conference’s leaders in multiple statistical categories entering Thursday evening’s action.
• Nemo Beach leads the league with 415 total kills and is second with an average of 4.03 kills per set. She’s followed by teammate Isabel Clark, who ranks seventh in the WCC with 3.33 kills per set.
• Olivia Bennett has recorded 377 digs so far in 2025.
DOMINANT DEFENSE
• As a team, USD leads the WCC in digs (1,381) and in total blocks (258.5), and ranks second in opponent hitting percentage (.178),
EXPLOSIVE OFFENSE
• San Diego leads the WCC with a .266 hitting percentage and 1,716.5 total points in 2025.
• USD’s 1,313 kills and 1,230 assists this season both rank first in the league
