Engeman Shines as Toreros Inch Closer to Perfect WCC Season

San Diego sweeps Pacific on Tuesday evening at the Jenny Craig Pavilion to earn 17th straight win

SAN DIEGO – Ten kills and six blocks from graduate transfer Kali Engeman led San Diego volleyball to a 3-0 sweep of Pacific on Tuesday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion, leaving USD just one win away from perfection in the West Coast Conference.

Engeman hit a robust .769 and recorded a service ace and two solo blocks as the Toreros (24-4, 17-0 WCC) defeated the Tigers (8-20, 2-15 WCC) by scores of 25-14, 25-15, and 25-23 to extend their win streak to 17 and remain undefeated in league play with only one regular-season match left on their 2025 schedule.

"This season so far has been a fairytale," Engeman said in a postgame television interview. "We've all really come together and been a team...It's just been an incredible feeling."

San Diego allowed Pacific to lead just three times on Tuesday and was tied with the Tigers on only nine occasions. After finishing the opening frame on a blistering 15-5 surge, six kills from Engeman aided a wire-to-wire win for USD in set two that saw it close the period on an 11-6 run.

Pacific climbed back within a point down the stretch in the match's third and final set, but San Diego hung on to secure a hard-fought 25-23 decision courtesy of a clutch kill from Isabel Clark and a service error from the Tigers.
