SAN DIEGO – Back in action one last time before conference play begins, the San Diego women's basketball team (5-7, 0-0 WCC) are back in the Jenny Craig Pavilion to take on Cal State Fullerton (5-5, 2-0 Big West) on Saturday, December 20 at 2:00 p.m.
USD is looking to wrap up non-conference play on a high note as they've won three of their last five games and have posted a 4-2 record on their home court.
A key strength for the Toreros in the early portion of the season has been the team's offensive rebounding. San Diego leads all WCC programs by averaging 16 offensive boards a game and that mark is also tied for 21st in the nation as USD has been among the most prolific teams at cleaning the offensive glass.
WRAPPING UP NON-CONFERENCE PLAY
- The Toreros enter their final non-conference game of the season with a 5-7 overall record under first year head coach Blanche Alverson as they're just two victories away from matching their total from last season.
- San Diego's taken care of business on their home court this season as they're 4-2 in the Jenny Craig Pavilion as they've earned victories over Bethesda, New Mexico State, Utah State and UC Riverside.
- Sophomore guard Kylie Ray has provided a huge spark for San Diego after returning from injury as she averaged 15.4 PPG for the Toreros in her seven games played this season.
- Impressing in her final season at this level, senior guard Hallie Rhodes is averaging 10.2 PPG this season as she currently ranks in the top 20 of WCC athletes in points per game this season. She's been a consistent presence for the Toreros in 2025-26 as she's played in all 12 of her team's games and made 11 starts.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS CAL STATE FULLERTON
- Saturday's non-conference finale in the JCP will be the 15th all-time meeting between the Toreros and Titans with USD dominating the all-time series by winning 13 of the previous 14 games between the two sides.
- It's been over five years since San Diego took on Fullerton, as USD went on the road and earned a 70-60 victory at Titan Gym back on December 8, 2020. Erica Martinsen had a big game for the Toreros as she scored 16 points in the road victory.
SCOUTING THE TITANS
- Cal State Fullerton enters Saturday's game with a 5-5 overall record and a 2-0 mark in Big West play as they will arrive in the JCP riding a three game winning streak under first year head coach John Bonner.
- Leading the way for Fullerton to start the season has been the play of sophomore forward Cristina Jones, who leads the Titans in scoring by averaging 13.6 PPG while shooting 47% from the field.
- The Toreros will look to limit their turnovers on Saturday, as the Titans have excelled at making things difficult for their opponents with a consistent full-court press. Cal State Fullerton opponents have averaged a staggering 27.6 giveaways through their first 10 games of the 2025-26 season.
