Trio of Toreros Named to United Soccer Coaches All-West Region Team

These USD athletes were key contributors on the 2025 WCC Championship squad

SAN DIEGO – On Tuesday afternoon, the United Soccer Coaches released their 2025 Division I All-Region Teams from the recent collegiate men's soccer season. USD sophomore midfielder Iain Wagner and senior defender Ethan Warne were each selected to the All-West Region First Team, while senior midfielder Cesar Bahena was selected to the All-West Region Second Team.

The trio were key contributors as the Toreros made history in 2025, as they helped San Diego win their fourth consecutive WCC championship becoming the first program in league history to accomplish that feat. Both Warne and Bahena were on all four USD conference championship squads.

Wagner, was named to the All-WCC First Team after leading San Diego with nine goals during his breakout sophomore campaign as he also contributed four assists for a team high 22 points during the 2025 season. He saved some of his top plays for the end of the season as he scored goals in USD's last four matches including the conference-clinching victory at Oregon State.

Warne, started in 18 of his team's matches during the 2025 season as he played the full 90 minutes in all but one game as he earned the WCC's Defender of the Year award. Earning his second consecutive appearance on the All-WCC First Team, Warne led the way for San Diego's phenomenal back line defense that allowed just 16 total goals during USD's historic season.

Wrapping up the USD honorees, Bahena was a star up front in the USD attack throughout his four years as he was named to the All-WCC Second Team for the second time in his Torero tenure. Scoring five goals and contributing four assists, Bahena recorded a pair of braces in USD home victories over both San Francisco and LMU.

The San Diego men's soccer team will enter the 2026 season seeking their fifth straight West Coast Conference title after securing the conference crown for a record setting fourth time during the 2025 campaign.

Stay tuned to the team's website for more updates ahead of the fall season.
