SAN DIEGO — No. 51 San Diego Women's Tennis kicked off its 2025 West Coast Conference schedule in style with a dominating 4-1 victory over the Portland Pilots on Friday afternoon at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. 

The Toreros' dominance started in the doubles point, when Brionna Nguyen and Kristina Nordikyan took down their opponents 6-1 in No. 3 doubles, before Hannah Read and Gabby Gregg clinched the doubles point on court two with a 6-3 victory. 

Due to injuries in the squad, the Toreros would have to forfeit at No. 6 singles, neutralizing the doubles point they had just won. Nordikyan was the first to get on the board in singles, winning her match in No. 3 singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-0 to retake the one point lead for San Diego at 2-1. 

Gregg was next in singles for the Toreros, defeating her opponent by a pair of 6-3 victories in set one and two, pushing the USD advantage to 3-1. 

After coming out on top in a tight 7-6 (7-4) tiebreaker victory in set one, Read made quick work of her opponent in set two, clinching the match for USD in number two singles with a 6-1 victory. 

Claudia de Las Heras and Nguyen's matchups in No. 1 and No. 5 singles both went unfinished when Read clinched the match.
