SPOKANE, Wash. — San Diego baseball scored in seven different innings on Friday night, leading to an 11-5 win over Gonzaga at the Patterson Baseball Complex.
USD plated one run in each of the game's first three frames before scoring once in the fifth, four times in the seventh, twice in the eighth, and once more in the top of the ninth to secure its 10th straight victory.
The win moved the Toreros (16-24, 10-3 WCC) into a tie with the Bulldogs (18-20, 10-3 WCC) for first place in the West Coast Conference standings.
Jack Gurevitch led off the game with a solo home run, which marked his team-leading ninth of 2025.
AJ Anzai added on in the second with a solo homer of his own, and after
Austin Smith pushed another run across with a sacrifice fly in the third USD had established a 3-0 lead.
San Diego's early advantage proved to be short-lived. The Bulldogs scored four times in the bottom of the third to pull ahead by a 4-3 margin, and remained in front until the top of the fifth, when Anzai drew a bases-loaded walk to knot the score at 4-4. Anzai notched another RBI in the top of the seventh when he was hit by a pitch while the bases were loaded, giving USD the lead back at 5-4.
The Toreros didn't trail again after Anzai's gritty at-bat, and added another run later in the inning when freshman
Rex Watson dashed home from third base on a passed ball. Gurevitch capped the rally with a two-RBI single to right field, putting USD ahead 8-4.
Gonzaga responded with a run in the bottom of the frame to cut their deficit to three but got no closer. Watson and
Jayden Lobliner helped put the game out of reach by notching an eighth-inning RBI single and ninth-inning RBI double, respectively.
Sophomore righty
Logan Reddemann began the game on the mound for USD and battled through 4.2 innings while surrendering four earned runs.
Dallin Harrison stranded two runners after taking over in the fourth and ultimately totaled one scoreless inning while walking one and striking out two.
Hayden Cody got the final out of the seventh in relief of Harrison before giving way to
Andrew Mosiello, who finished the game with three scoreless frames and five strikeouts.
