SEATTLE — San Diego clinched a spot in the inaugural WCC Men's Soccer Tournament Saturday night, riding two goals and an assist from Steven Ramirez to a 4-2 win over Seattle U at Championship Field.
The Toreros (9-4-3, 4-1-2 WCC) rallied from an early deficit against Seattle U (5-7-3, 2-3-2 WCC) to lock up a top-four finish in the league standings with one regular-season match left. The four-team tournament runs Nov. 11-14, and its champion earns the WCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Seattle U scored 96 seconds into the match, but San Diego pushed right back. Samy Kanaan forced a save 21 seconds later, the Toreros earned four corners in the first seven minutes, and Iain Wagner leveled the score in the 15th minute with his third goal of the season.
Ramirez gave San Diego its first lead in the 22nd minute with his eighth goal of 2026, assisted by Kanaan and Oliver Rhoades. The Redhawks answered in the 27th minute, and the teams went to halftime level at 2-2 despite a 9-5 Torero edge in shots.
Just 75 seconds into the second half, Ramirez put the Toreros back in front with an unassisted finish, his ninth goal of the season. Seattle U went down to 10 men four minutes later. San Diego dominated after the break, outshooting the Redhawks 17-3 and earning eight of the half's 10 corners.
Taj Eagleston made it 4-2 in the 79th minute for his sixth goal of the season, with Ramirez picking up the assist. Ramirez's nine goals this season are already one more than his 2025 total, and he has scored four times in his last two matches against Seattle U.
Lucca Adams made three saves, including one in the 88th minute, to improve to 9-4-3 in goal this season. San Diego outshot Seattle U 26-8, including 9-5 on target, and won the corner count 13-3.
The Toreros have now won three straight meetings with the Redhawks and lead the all-time series 3-1-0. Saturday's result also closed their regular-season road schedule at 6-3-2.
