Walls Posts Career-High Seven Saves in 4-0 Loss at Seattle U

The redshirt sophomore reaches 40 saves this season, and Anders led the team with five shots

SEATTLE — Seven saves gave Chloe Walls a new career high Wednesday night, though San Diego fell 4-0 to Seattle U at Championship Field.

Walls was busy from her first save in the third minute to her last in the 70th, with five of the seven coming after halftime. Her previous best of six came Sept. 17 at California Baptist, and the redshirt sophomore now has 40 saves this season.

Trailing 2-0 after goals in the ninth and 23rd minutes, San Diego took the last three shots of the first half, all from sophomore Amanda Anders. Anders came off the bench in the 16th minute, finished with a team-high five shots and forced a save early in the second half.

Seattle U added two more goals 90 seconds apart around the hour mark, but the Toreros did not allow another the rest of the way. San Diego outshot the Redhawks 4-3 over the final 25 minutes, with seniors Maquena O'Callaghan and Tamia Graham each forcing a save.

San Diego held 51% of possession, its second straight match with more of the ball after posting 54% Saturday at LMU. Corner kicks ended even at three apiece, and 21 Toreros saw the field.
