LAST TIME OUT
•          San Diego and San Francisco played to a 2-2 draw Oct. 3 at Negoesco Stadium, leaving the Toreros 6-2-3 overall and unbeaten in             WCC play at 1-0-2.
•          USF went ahead in the 29th minute before Devin Zachry, a 32nd-minute substitute, equalized in the 42nd off assists from Iain             Wagner and Luca Fava. It was Zachry's first goal of 2026 and the fourth of his Torero career.
•          Steven Ramirez put San Diego in front with a penalty kick in the 53rd minute for his team-leading fifth goal of the season. He has             converted both of USD's penalties in 2026. The Dons equalized in the 64th.
•          Lucca Adams made a career-high eight saves, five of them before halftime, doubling his previous best of four. San Francisco's 10             shots on target were the most by a Torero opponent this season.
•          Shots finished even at 18 apiece, and USD held a 10-9 edge in corner kicks and 56% of possession.
•          Ramirez led San Diego with five shots, two of them on target, and Taj Eagleston and Iain Wagner had three each. Eagleston went             the full 90 for the 11th straight match.
•          Wagner's assist was his team-leading fourth of the season, and Fava's was his third.
•          Fifteen Toreros saw action, and Ricky Moreno made his first start of 2026.
•          The draw moved San Diego to 28-21-4 all time against San Francisco. It ended the Toreros' seven-match winning streak in the             series but extended their unbeaten run against the Dons to eight.

THE SERIES WITH PORTLAND
•          Saturday is the 54th all-time meeting between San Diego and Portland. The Toreros lead the series 23-22-8, though the Pilots             have outscored them 84-69 across the first 53 matches.
•          Portland has won the last three meetings: 5-1 at Merlo Field on Oct. 21, 2023, 2-0 at Torero Stadium on Nov. 9, 2024, and 2-1 at             Merlo Field on Oct. 10, 2025. San Diego's most recent win came Oct. 29, 2022, when it beat then-No. 7 Portland 4-1 at Torero             Stadium to move into first place in the WCC on the way to the first of its four straight titles.
•          Those three Portland wins are San Diego's only WCC losses since the start of the 2022 season. The Pilots handed the Toreros their             lone league defeat in each of the last three seasons, and USD is 25-0-5 against the rest of the conference over that span.
•          In the most recent meeting, No. 6 Portland beat No. 12 San Diego 2-1 at Merlo Field. Portland scored in the second minute, and             then restored the lead in the 37th, 98 seconds after Godwin Antwi equalized off a Samy Kanaan assist. USD outshot the Pilots 15-            8 and held a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
•          San Diego outshot Portland 33-13 across the last two meetings but lost both, with the Pilots scoring four goals on seven shots on             target.
•          Portland's last visit to Torero Stadium produced a 2-0 win over then-No. 3 San Diego on Nov. 9, 2024, on a pair of second-half             goals. It was the Pilots' first win in San Diego since 2011.
•          San Diego is 6-3-4 at home against Portland since 2004 and went 5-0-2 in the seven home meetings between the Pilots' wins in             San Diego in 2011 and 2024. Brian Quinn is 2-4-2 against Portland since taking over in 2018.
•          Portland (5-3-2, 2-0-0 WCC) arrives on a four-match winning streak and is 5-0-1 since an 0-3-1 start. The Pilots opened league             play with home wins of 4-0 over LMU and 5-0 over Saint Mary's, then won 2-1 at Michigan on Oct. 4. Saturday is their first WCC             road match.
•          The teams share two common opponents. San Diego won 2-1 at then-No. 1 Washington on Aug. 20, and Portland lost 4-2 at then-            No. 11 Washington a week later. The Pilots beat LMU 4-0 at home on Sept. 26, four days before the Toreros won 2-1 at Sullivan             Field.

CHASING A FIFTH STRAIGHT TITLE
•          The Oct. 3 draw at San Francisco left San Diego unbeaten through three WCC matches at 1-0-2, with five of its eight league             matches remaining. USD won a fourth straight title in 2025, the first program in league history to do so.
•          San Diego is unbeaten in its last nine WCC matches at 7-0-2, outscoring league opponents 17-5 with six clean sheets, since a 2-1             loss at No. 6 Portland on Oct. 10, 2025.
•          The 2026 Toreros have five points through three league matches, one more than last year's title team had at the same stage. The             2025 Toreros were 1-1-1 after losing at Portland in their third WCC match, then won their last six.
•          USD went 25-3-3 in WCC regular-season play across its four title seasons: 6-0-1 in 2022, 5-1-1 in 2023, 7-1-0 in 2024 and 7-1-1 in             2025.
•          Last season's Toreros allowed five goals in nine WCC matches, the fewest in the league, and posted six conference shutouts.
•          Portland (2-0-0) is the only WCC team with a perfect league record, and San Diego is one of six teams yet to lose in conference             play. Six of the league's first 12 matches have ended in draws.
•          The 2026 WCC men's soccer field has nine teams, with Denver joining this season, and each plays an eight-match league schedule.             After Saturday, San Diego visits Pacific (Oct. 17) and Seattle U (Oct. 31) and hosts Santa Clara (Oct. 21) and Saint Mary's (Nov. 6).
•          For the first time, the WCC will stage a men's soccer tournament. The top four regular-season finishers meet in single-elimination             semifinals on Nov. 11 and a final on Nov. 14, with the higher seed hosting each match.
•          The tournament champion, not the regular-season champion, now earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

BACK AT TORERO STADIUM
•          Saturday is San Diego's first home match since a 0-0 draw with Denver on Sept. 26. The Toreros went 1-0-1 on the two-match WCC             road swing in between, winning at LMU and drawing at San Francisco.
•          USD is 2-0-1 at Torero Stadium in 2026 after beating Liberty 3-1 and San Diego State 2-1 and drawing with Denver. Eight of the             Toreros' first 11 matches were played away from home.
•          Portland is the last team to win a regular-season match at Torero Stadium, 2-0 over then-No. 3 San Diego on Nov. 9, 2024. The             Toreros are 11-0-2 in 13 regular-season home matches since, including a 9-0-1 mark in 2025.
•          San Diego has not lost a WCC match at home since that night, going 5-0-1 in league matches at Torero Stadium.
•          Saturday is the first of San Diego's three remaining home matches, with Santa Clara (Oct. 21) and Saint Mary's (Nov. 6) to follow.
•          The Toreros have drawn 3,298 fans to three home matches this season, an average of 1,099, led by a season-high 2,242 against             San Diego State on Sept. 13. Saturday's match features a vuvuzela giveaway.

COMING FROM BEHIND
•          San Diego has conceded first in six of its 11 matches and is 3-2-1 in them. At San Francisco, the Toreros answered the Dons' 29th-            minute opener with goals in the 42nd and 53rd minutes before USF drew level in the 64th.
•          Half of the Toreros' six wins have come after conceding the first goal: against Liberty on Aug. 23, at UC Irvine on Sept. 8 and at             LMU on Sept. 30.
•          The two losses after conceding first were 1-0 road defeats at No. 1 Stanford, on an 89th-minute goal, and at Kansas City, where the             Toreros played the final 54 minutes with 10 men.
•          The answer at LMU took 68 seconds. The Lions scored at 21:45, and Steven Ramirez equalized at 22:53.
•          San Diego trailed 1-0 at halftime against Liberty and at UC Irvine. The Toreros scored three times between the 54th and 64th             minutes to beat the Flames 3-1, then scored twice in a span of 2:21 to beat the Anteaters 2-1.
•          Six of the seven goals in the three comeback wins have come after halftime. Ramirez has three of the seven and Taj Eagleston two,             both of them game-winners.
•          The Toreros have been quick to capitalize elsewhere as well. Ramirez scored twice in 91 seconds against Liberty, and Luca Fava's             winner at California Baptist came 45 seconds after the Lancers went down to 10 men.

WHERE THE TOREROS STAND
•          San Diego is No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 released Oct. 6, its eighth appearance in as many coaches polls this             season.
•          Top Drawer Soccer has the Toreros No. 18 in its Top 25 released Oct. 5.
•          USD is No. 22 in the NCAA RPI through games of Oct. 8.
•          USD opened the season at No. 18 in the coaches poll and climbed to No. 2 on Aug. 25, the highest the program has ever appeared             in that poll.
•          The Toreros reached No. 1 in the Top Drawer Soccer Division I Top 25 on Aug. 24, the first time the program has held the top spot             in a national poll.
•          San Diego's previous best in either poll was No. 3, reached in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 on Nov. 5, 2024, at 12-1-2.
•          Both of San Diego's losses came by a 1-0 score on the road against teams in this week's coaches poll, No. 4 Kansas City and No. 13             Stanford. Washington, which USD beat 2-1 in the opener, is No. 14, and UCLA, which hosts the Toreros on Oct. 25, is No. 21.

COACH QUINN AGAINST RANKED OPPONENTS
•          Since taking over in 2018, head coach Brian Quinn has faced ranked opponents 24 times and is 8-11-5 in those matches.
•          No. 1 Washington remains both the highest-ranked opponent of the Quinn era and his highest-ranked win, ahead of a 2018             meeting with No. 2 Duke that the Toreros dropped.
•          That list of wins also includes No. 6 Washington in 2023, No. 7 Portland in 2022, No. 10 Duke in 2024 and No. 10 Oregon State in             2025.
•          Stanford was the 12th top-10 opponent of the Quinn era and the fourth top-three opponent since 2018.
•          San Diego has already faced the nation's No. 1 team twice this season.
•          Kansas City, No. 16 at kickoff on Sept. 20, was Quinn's 24th ranked opponent and the third of 2026. San Diego is 1-2-0 against             ranked teams this season, with both losses by a 1-0 score.

BEATING A NO. 1
•          USD's Aug. 20 win at Washington was the fifth time in program history San Diego has beaten a No. 1-ranked opponent, and the             first under Brian Quinn. The Huskies were the defending national champions.
•          The previous one came Sept. 26, 2014, a 1-0 win over No. 1 UCLA at Torero Stadium in front of a program-record crowd of 4,432.
•          Taj Eagleston opened the scoring in the 11th minute in Seattle, finishing an assist from Steven Ramirez whose own strike had             been cleared off the goal line. Devin Dillon doubled the lead in the 53rd.
•          Lucca Adams went the full 90 and made four saves against 16 Washington shots and 11 corner kicks. The result moved San Diego             to 3-3-2 all time against the Huskies.

EAGLESTON, FAVA SWEEP WCC MEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY AWARDS (SEPT. 14)
•          Taj Eagleston and Luca Fava swept the West Coast Conference men's soccer weekly honors on Sept. 14, with Eagleston named             Offensive Player of the Week and Fava Defensive Player of the Week after 2-1 wins at UC Irvine and against San Diego State.
•          Eagleston scored the game-winner in both matches, in the 55th minute at UC Irvine and the 34th against San Diego State, and             played all 180 minutes while leading the Toreros with nine shots, four on target.
•          Fava started both wins at wing-back and played 154 minutes, helping San Diego allow just two goals and four shots on target for             the week.
•          Fava finished the week with three shots, one on goal, and an assist. He took the corner that started the move on Iain Wagner's             opener against San Diego State and supplied the cross for Eagleston's winner.
•          Eagleston became the second Torero to earn WCC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, following Steven Ramirez on             Aug. 24.

RAMIREZ NAMED WCC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK (AUG. 24)
•          Senior forward Steven Ramirez was named the WCC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Aug. 24, 2026.
•          Ramirez had a hand in three of the Toreros' five goals during the 2-0-0 opening week, setting up the opener at Washington before             scoring twice in 91 seconds against Liberty as San Diego rallied for a 3-1 win.
•          The honor is the first conference weekly award of Ramirez's career and the first WCC Offensive Player of the Week award of the             2026 season. He is the first Torero recognized since Iain Wagner earned the same honor on Nov. 17, 2025.
•          He has since added penalties at UC Santa Barbara and San Francisco and the equalizer at LMU, and leads the Toreros with five             goals on 34 shots through 11 matches.
•          The Garden Grove, Calif., native has drawn WCC postseason recognition in each of his first three seasons, landing on the All-WCC             Freshman Team in 2023, honorable mention in 2024 and the second team in 2025.

•          Six Toreros have started all 11 matches: Lucca Adams, Taj Eagleston, Luca Fava, Steven Ramirez, Oliver Rhoades and Iain Wagner.             Ricky Moreno's start at USF made him the 18th different Torero to start a match this season.
•          San Diego is 2-for-2 on penalty kicks this season, both converted by Ramirez, and opponents are 1-for-1.

RECAPPING LAST SEASON
Last season in 2025 — Brian Quinn's eighth season as USD men's soccer head coach — he led the Toreros to their fourth consecutive West Coast Conference championship, a feat no program in league history had ever accomplished. As San Diego works through 2026, it is chasing an unprecedented fifth straight WCC title. Here's what the Toreros accomplished along the way:
•          Won their fourth straight WCC Championship — the first program in conference history to do so — with a 4-2 road win over No. 10             Oregon State to clinch the crown
•          Finished the regular season 13-2-3 overall and 7-1-1 in WCC play, good for a No. 7 national ranking

•          Posted nine shutouts on the season, including a stretch of five straight clean sheets in the middle of conference play
•          Advanced to the postseason for the fourth consecutive year, falling 2-1 to Grand Canyon in the NCAA Tournament second round at             Torero Stadium — one year after reaching the Sweet Sixteen with wins over UC Davis and Duke
•          Head coach Brian Quinn was named WCC Coach of the Year, with Lucca Adams (Goalkeeper of the Year) and Ethan Warne             (Defensive Player of the Year) headlining nine total All-WCC selections

ADAMS, JAMES AND WAGNER EARN WCC PRESEASON HONORS
•          Three Toreros were named to the 2026 WCC Preseason Team and San Diego was picked to finish second in the 2026 WCC             Preseason Coaches Poll.
•          Goalkeeper Lucca Adams, midfielder Noah James and forward Iain Wagner comprised USD's preseason team honorees.
•          Portland was tabbed as the league's preseason favorite, receiving six of the nine first-place votes and totaling 62 points. San             Diego received two first-place votes and finished with 55 points, three ahead of third-place Denver, which received the final first-            place vote and totaled 53 points.
