EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — University of San Diego men's basketball recruiting coordinator Josh Calbert and video coordinator Patrick Gallagher have been named to Silver Waves Media's 2026 Top Support Staff in College Basketball list.

The seventh annual list recognizes support staff at NCAA Division I men's basketball programs who Silver Waves Media sees as next in line for assistant coaching promotions. The outlet's research team and a committee of professionals selected the honorees. Calbert and Gallagher are two of 64 on this year's list, and San Diego is one of two West Coast Conference programs represented.

Calbert joined head coach JR Blount's staff in April after two seasons as an assistant coach at Pepperdine (2024-26). He helped the Waves reach the WCC Tournament semifinals in 2024-25 for the first time in four seasons. Earlier this year, Silver Waves Media also named him to its list of the 100 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistants and GMs.

Before Pepperdine, the Pittsburg, Calif., native was coordinator of player development at Little Rock in 2023-24, when the Trojans went 21-13 and played in the College Basketball Invitational. He was director of recruiting at South Dakota (2022-23) and Northern Illinois (2021-22). His college coaching career followed six seasons as director and coach of West Coast Elite NorCal, an AAU program in Walnut Creek, Calif.

Gallagher, an East Bay native and 2023 USD graduate, is in his fourth season on the Torero staff and his first under Blount. He spent three years as a student manager for the program before earning a roster spot as a senior.

As video coordinator, he handles the Toreros' video and scouting operations and works in player development, from film analysis to skill work. Silver Waves Media also recognized Gallagher in 2024 as one of its Top-50 NXT Up in Men's Support Staff.
