LOS ANGELES – In a Valentines Day matchup between two of California's top women's tennis sides, the Toreros were topped by UCLA on the road in Westwood, 6-1.
While two of three doubles courts were highly contested, the hosting Bruins claimed the wins on courts one and two chronologically, the third going unfinished at 5-5, seeing the first point of the day go UCLA's way.
The Bruins continued pushing into singles, quickly claiming the three more points needed to clinch the dual, on courts one and two (both ranked duels), and five. USD sophomore
Gabby Gregg put the Toreros on the board at 4-1 with a second set tiebreaker on court six, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
The remaining two Toreros – on neighboring courts three and four – would put up strong fights but ultimately end up on the wrong end of deciding third sets, settling the Saturdary afternoon score at 6-1 UCLA.
