SAN DIEGO — Taj Eagleston and Luca Fava earned West Coast Conference men's soccer weekly honors Monday, with Eagleston named Offensive Player of the Week and Fava Defensive Player of the Week after San Diego (5-1-1, 0-0-0 WCC) won twice to push its winning streak to three.

Eagleston scored the game-winning goal in both victories, played all 180 minutes and led the Toreros with nine shots and four on target. At UC Irvine on Sept. 8, he broke a 1-1 tie in the 55th minute, gathering a set piece rolling through the box, hitting the post and half-volleying the rebound home for a 2-1 final. Five days later against San Diego State, he doubled the lead in the 34th, running onto a miscleared cross and burying a first-time left-footer into the bottom-left corner from the edge of the six-yard box. They were his second and third goals of the season, both decisive, and the pair pulled him level with Steven Ramirez for the team lead.

Fava plays wing-back in USD's three-centerback shape and delivered at both ends of it. He started both wins and logged 154 minutes in a stretch in which San Diego allowed two goals and four shots on target. The Anteaters put two shots on frame all night in his 76 minutes at Irvine, and against the Aztecs he had a hand in both Torero goals from his flank across 78 minutes. His left-sided corner in the 17th was headed clear only as far as Matteo Salcedo, who teed up Iain Wagner's opener, and in the 34th he swung in the cross that Eagleston turned into the winner, one of two assists credited on the play. Fava finished the week with three shots, one on goal and an assist on a game-winner.

The honor makes Eagleston the second Torero to take WCC offensive honors this season, following Ramirez on Aug. 24. San Diego is unbeaten in four and drew a season-high home crowd of 2,242 to Torero Stadium for Saturday's win over San Diego State.

Eagleston, Fava, and the Toreros will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Kansas City to take on UMKC. Kickoff at Durwood Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
