San Diego Men's Soccer Ranked No. 10 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

Winners of three straight, the Toreros visit No. 16 Kansas City before opening WCC play


SAN DIEGO — San Diego men's soccer is ranked No. 10 in the United Soccer Coaches Division I Top 25 released Tuesday, a fourth consecutive week in the top 10 for a program that opened the season at No. 18.

The Toreros collected 128 points in this week's voting after checking in at No. 9 a week ago. San Diego has climbed as high as a program-best No. 2 this season and remains the only West Coast Conference team in the rankings.

At 5-1-1, ninth-year head coach Brian Quinn's side is unbeaten in four matches since its only loss of the season, 1-0 at top-ranked Stanford. The Toreros are 3-1-1 on the road, a mark that includes a season-opening 2-1 win at then-No. 1 Washington and a 1-1 draw at UC Santa Barbara, which is No. 25 in this week's poll.

Taj Eagleston delivered the game-winner in both of last week's victories, and San Diego outshot its two opponents by a combined 30-13 margin. At UC Irvine on Sept. 8, Quinn made five changes at halftime with the Toreros down 1-0, and Conner Gardenhour and Eagleston scored 2:21 apart early in the second half. Five days later, Iain Wagner opened the scoring against San Diego State with a 25-yard strike and Eagleston doubled the lead in the 34th minute. The 2-1 win came in front of 2,242 fans, the largest regular-season crowd at Torero Stadium since 2017.

On Monday, Eagleston was named WCC Offensive Player of the Week and Luca Fava earned WCC Defensive Player of the Week, giving San Diego a sweep of the league's weekly awards. Eagleston's two goals last week gave him three on the season, tying Steven Ramirez for the team lead. Goalkeeper Lucca Adams, the 2025 WCC Goalkeeper of the Year, is 5-1-1 in net this season.

Next up is a Sunday, Sept. 20 trip to No. 16 Kansas City, which moved into the Top 25 this week. Kickoff at Durwood Soccer Stadium is set for 5 p.m. Pacific time. San Diego then begins its pursuit of a fifth consecutive WCC regular-season title against Denver at Torero Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 5 p.m.
