JUNIOR (2015): Made 22 appearances with three starts... posted a 4.20 ERA with 37 strikeouts, 18 walks, 31 runs, and 58 hits in 49.1 innings pitched... helped lead the team to the WCC championship...in 5.0 innings of work he had four strikeouts against Long Beach State (4/14/15)...allowed just one run on four hits in 3.2 innings of work against San Francisco (4/19/15)....allowed one run on three hits in 4.0 innings of work against San Diego State (2/24/15).
SOPHOMORE (2014): Made 13 appearances... in 21.1 innings he had 12 strikeouts with 11 runs and six walks... in 4.2 innings of work he had two strikeouts, two hits and one walk against Long Beach State (4/21).
SOPHOMORE (2013): Redshirted at USD.
FRESHMAN (2012): Appeared in 20 games (two starts) going 1-1 with a 2.95 ERA... In 39.2 innings he struck out 25 batters... Earned his lone victory April 9, 2012 at San Diego State when he pitched three scoreless innings.
High School: Prepped at Buena High School...his sophomore year he threw the fastest game in Ventura County...his senior year he threw two no-hitters and was the MVP pitcher, made first-team All-County and made the All Star team...he also lettered in football and was named an All-County kicker.
Personal: Drew Christopher Smith was born on November 11, 1992...he is the son of Jay Jacobs...he was also recruited by Loyola Marymount, Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara...he chose to attend USD because of the great baseball program and because he wanted to be a part of the winning tradition...he can kick a 57 yard field goal and was also recruited to play football by San Diego State, Boise State and USC.
