USD: Ben Hannula returns for his fifth and final season with Toreros... Versatile athlete has seen action on both sides of the ball during his Torero career... This past spring worked out at quarterback, and this season will compete on offense at both QB and receiver... Last year earned Second Team PFL honors at defensive back... Started all 11 games and totaled 39 tackles (22 solo stops), 3 interceptions (99 yard TD return vs. Drake) and 4 pass breakups... Season-best 8 tackles in win at Azusa Pacific... In 2006 was named a 2nd Team Mid-Major All-American (Football Gazette) and 2nd Team All-PFL at wide receiver... Led team with 56 receptions - good for 549 yards (9.8 ave.) and 4 touchdowns... In Gridiron Classic game vs. Monmouth, Ben played both ways and hauled in two interceptions, including a 1st quarter pick that he returned for a 37-yard TD and 7-0 lead for the Toreros... In 2005 totaled 16 tackles (10 solo) with 1 fumble recovery... Also added 3 receptions for 20 yards and 3 punt returns for 87 yards with a long of 68 at Valparaiso... Younger brother of recent Torero graduate Adam Hannula... Sat out the 2004 season as a redshirt.

High School: An outstanding athlete, Ben was an All-League quarterback his senior year at Bellarmine Prep in Washington... Named a 2nd Team All-League QB and All-State special team[apos]s player his junior year... Also lettered in basketball and track & field.

Personal: Born on October 13, 1985 in Tacoma, Washington... Parents are Margaret & Daniel Hannula of Tacoma, WA... Older brother, Adam, played wide receiver for USD between 2002-05... Chose USD for great athletics and academic programs... Also recruited by Montana State, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington.
