FRESHMAN (2011): Named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team, All-WCC Freshman Team and earned WCC Honorable Mention Honors...made 28 game appearances and three game starts with a 3.64 ERA in 71.2 innings of work...recording 58 strikeouts with a record of 7-4...made his first start against Vanderbuilt (2/20/2011)...had his longest outing against Saint Mary[apos]s (5/1/2011) with 5.1 innings pitched...tallied 7 strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work against Portland on April 23, 2011.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played baseball at Bishop Amat High School...he had a combined record of 34-5 in three seasons of varsity baseball...as a senior, he posted a 13-2 record with a 0.92 ERA and 148 strikeouts...he was named the Del Ray League Pitcher of the Year as a senior, as well as first-team All-CIF, and first-team All-San Gabriel Valley...as a junior, he posted a 10-3 record with 107 strikeouts and a 2.17 ERA en route to a second-team All-CIF and second-team All-San Gabriel Valley selections...as a sophomore, he posted a perfect 11-0 record with a 0.80 ERA, while earning the Del Ray League Pitcher of the Year award, being named first-team All-CIF, and took home second-team All-American honors.

PERSONAL: Paul Cesar Paez was born on April 29, 1992 in West Covina, Calif....he is the son of Roberta Valdisosera, Guillermo Campos and Jose Paez...he was also recruited by UC Irvine, Arizona, and California...he chose to attend USD because of the baseball program and because USD is a private Catholic university.
