JUNIOR (2009): In his first season with Toreros, played in 52 games (51 starts), batting .358 (77-for-215) with 37 RBI and 35 runs scored as USD[apos]s starting second baseman...connected for his first home run on April 4th at Santa Clara, a game in which he went 3-for-6 and tied his season-high three RBI...strung together a 15-game hitting streak between 4/14 and 5/8, going 30-for-71 (.423) with seven doubles, two home runs, and 12 RBI over the 15 game span...eleven of the 15 games during the season-high hitting streak were multi-hit games...set a season-high in hits with four at Arizona State (5/6), including a double and a home run...tied the season-high in hits at No. 1 UC Irvine on 5/12, going 4-for-5, while also adding a walk. COLLEGE: Played at Sacramento City College for two seasons...as a sophomore year he hit .364 with 47 hits, two home runs and was named first-team All-Conference, while leading the league in hitting with a .437 average in conference games...helped lead his team to the 2008 league championship and to a regional championship. HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three varsity letters playing baseball at Armijo High School...helped lead his team to back-to-back league championships as a sophomore and junior...as a senior he hit .337 and earned an All-Monticello Empire League honorable mention and was named All-County...as a junior he hit .457 and was named All-MEL and All-County...as a sophomore he hit .364 and earned an All-MEL honorable mention. PERSONAL: Christopher Scott Egell was born on Dec. 2, 1986 in Fairfield, Calif....he is the son of Randy and Tami Engell...was also recruited by Long Beach State and Oral Roberts...chose to attend USD because of the baseball program.
