- Born Courtney Nicole Coate on December 13, 1995
- Daughter of Steve and Kelly Coate of Escondido, Calif.
- Has a brother Kyle and sister Kendall
- Grandfather Richard Emberger competed in the 1964 Toyko Olympics and set a world record in 1,500-meter dash and finished 10th overall in the decathlon
- Once climbed Half Dome in Yosemite on a 25-mile backpacking trip when she was 12 years old
- Plans to major in physical therapy
