JUNIOR (2013): Played in 19 matches with 18 starts... Scored one goal and tallied three assists... Was second on team in shots (26) and third in shots on goal (10)... Scored lone goal of season in Toreros 2-1 win over Missouri at Texas A&M Invitational (9/8/13)... Provided game-winning assist in Toreros 1-0 shutout win over UC Irvine (8/30/12)... Also had an assist against Texas A&M (9/6/13) and Gonzaga (10/26/13)... Was named to Kansas Invitational All-Tournament Team... Honorable mention selection for WCC All-Academic Team. SOPHOMORE (2012): Played in 19 matches with 16 starts...tied for the team-lead with three goals scored for six total points...took a total of 16 shots, six of them were on frame...scored the game-winning goal against USC (9/2/12)...scored one goal against USC (9/14/12)...scored one goal against Gonzaga (11/2/12). PERSONAL: Mariah Nicole Butera was born on September 18, 1992 in Los Angeles, Calif....she is the daughter of Donald and Cheryl Butera...was heavily recruited by Pepperdine, Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, UNLV and UC Davis...chose to attend USD because of the outstanding women[apos]s soccer program, the coaching staff, strong academic reputation and the beautiful campus...her brother Jeff, played baseball at Haverford College...notes she is a certified scuba diver.
