Junior in 2002: Proved to be one of the best defenders in the West Coast Conference... Named a second team All-WCC player after an excellent junior season... Named USD Defensive Player of Year... Started in all of San Diego[apos]s 21 games in 2002... Has helped San Diego qualify for three NCAA Tournament[apos]s in as many years... Scored a goal in a 4-0 USD rout over Gonzaga (11-3).

Sophomore in 2001: Started in all 16 games she appeared in as a sophomore... The Toreros were 13-3 in those games... Posted four shots and scored against CS Fullerton (10-28)... Helped USD shutout six different opponents.

Freshman in 2000: Was a major contributor as a freshman... Named an All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention selection... Played in 18 matches, starting in 16... Scored a game winning goal in her first ever college game vs. UC Santa Barbara (8-25)... Added one more on the season, San Francisco (9-29).

Prep: Named First Team All-Metro League and Athlete of the Week after recording 50 goals and 30 assists in her senior season... Metro League Champions and CIF finalists... Junior year, named First Team All-CIF and Athlete of the Week while her team was Metro League Champions and CIF finalists... Named MVP and Second Team All-Metro League in sophomore season... Also lettered in field hockey at Bonita Vista High School... Nomads Tournament Champions, Surf Cup Champions, Pleasonton champions and Regional finalists in 2000... Played for the Mexican Women[apos]s National Soccer team... Competed in the Pan-American Games and the Nike Cup versus U.S.A. and Korea.

Personal: Chose USD for its location, good education and athletic program... Also recruited by Cal State Fullerton, San Diego State University and Washington... Parents are Javier and Lynn Romero... Father, Javier, was a wrestler at UNLV... Cristina was born on February 3, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV.
