HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Adolfo Camarillo High School...was a two-time first-team All-League selection, and a two-time All-County selection...as a senior, he hit .338 with 27 hits, 17 RBI, two doubles, one triple and one home run...as a junior, he hit .388 with 33 hits, 14 RBI, 10 doubles and one home run...as a sophomore, he hit .346 with 27 hits, 13 RBI, three doubles and one home run. PERSONAL: Matthew Whitney was born on November 13, 1996 in Ventura, Calif....he is the son of Eileen Whitney and Roger Whitney...was also recruited by UC Irvine, USC, Cal Poly, Nevada, Bethune Cookman and Loyola Marymount...chose to attend USD because he really clicked with head coach Rich Hill, and the rest of the coaching staff, and he also loves the San Diego area.
