He is the son of Michael and Jennifer Murphy
Was also recruited by California, UCLA, Mississippi State, Dallas Baptist, UC Santa Barbara, USC, UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton
Chose to attend USD because of the amazing academic reputation, and he feels like it doesn't get better than playing baseball in San Diego
