JUNIOR (2017): Appeared in 21 games, making three starts... Struck out seven batters in three innings pitched allowing no runs at home vs UC Riverside (3/28)... In his final appearance of the season, pitched 4.1 innings with zero runs allowed vs Pepperdine (5/20)... Finished the season with 50 strikeouts... Drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 20th round after the season.
SOPHOMORE (2016): Made 15 appearances with two starts on the mound for USD... he posted a 1-1 record with a 7.50 ERA in 24.0 innings of work... recorded a season-high eight strikeouts in his final outing against Arizona State (5/18/16)... recorded five strikeouts in 3.0 innings f work against William and Mary (3/6/16)... tossed two scoreless innings against San Diego State (3/1/16)... allowed one run on one hit in 2.1 innings of work at Baylor(3/13/16).
FRESHMAN (2015): Made 17 appearances with four starts... had a 5.40 ERA with 36 strikeouts, 36 walks, 24 runs and 37 hits in 36.2 innings of work... helped lead the team to the WCC championship... had five strikeouts, and gave up only two hits in 3.0 innings of work against Cal State Fullerton (4/7/15)... had six strikeouts, two walks and three hits in 4.0 innings of work against UC Irvine (4/28/15)... had four strikeouts, one walk and gave up three hits in 4.0 innings of work against UC Riverside (5/13/15).
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Quartz Hill High School, where he is was a standout on the baseball team... As a senior, he posted a 10-2 record, with 137 strikeouts, and had a 0.93 ERA in 75.1 innings of work... the 137 strikeouts was the most among all California high school pitchers, and ranked 16th nationally... he also hit .356 with 31 hits, 12 doubles, two triples, two home runs and had 28 RBI... he was named All-State, and All-CIF Southern Section as a senior... played on the 2013 Milwaukee Brewers Area Code team.... in his junior season, he posted an overall record of 11-3, while bolstering a 2.01 ERA... as a junior he struck out a total of 80 batters in 55.2 innings of work... On the offensive side of things, he hit .407 with 35 hits, seven doubles, one triple, two home runs and 22 RBI in his junior season... he was a first-team All-Alley selection, a first-team All-Golden League, and an All-State nominee in his junior season... as a freshman, he hit .367 with 33 hits, nine doubles, two triples, one home run and 16 RBI en route to an All-Valley honorable mention, and a second-team Al-Golden League distinction... was drafted in the 35th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the New York Mets.
PERSONAL:Jonathan Lee Teaney was born on January 28, 1996 in Lancaster, Calif...he is the son of Job and Gretchen Teaney...he was also recruited by San Diego State, and Cal Poly SLO...chose to attend USD because he wanted to attend a university with a smaller student population, great academics, and an excellent baseball program, plus USD offers everything he wanted, and he felt at home as soon as I stepped on campus...notes his grandfather played baseball at Ohio University, and his great-uncle played baseball for the University of Minnesota.
