JUNIOR (2017): Named the 2017 WCC Player of the Year... Semi-finalist for the Johnny Bench Award for the second year in a row... All-Region selection... Started all 54 games... Hit .312 with 13 home runs and 47 RBI... Led team with 33 walks and .424 on-base percentage... Second on team with .564 slugging percentage... Two-time WCC Player of the Week... Hit .380 with eight home runs and 25 RBI in 27 WCC games... Had 19 multi-hit games and 11 multi-RBI games... Went 2-for-4 with two home runs and six RBI against Pacific (4/15/17)... Went 2-for-4 with two home runs against Portland (3/19/17)... Went 3-for-4 with four RBI against UC Irvine (2/25/17)... At one point, reached base in 15 straight games... Was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the third round after the season.
SOPHOMORE (2016): Played and started in 56 games as a catcher... Played as designated hitter in 6 games.... Semi-finalist for the Johnny Bench Award... All-WCC Second Team selection... Hit .327 with six home runs, 18 doubles, and a triple and a total of 43 runs....Went 4-for-7 in the first two games of the Vanderbilt series (2/19-20), hitting over .500 in both games and three RBI... went 5-for-10 against San Diego State throughout the season with two RBI... Went 3-for-7 against Oregon State with three RBI and a home run... went 5-for-11 with six runs and an RBI against William & Mary (3/6-8).... Went 2-for-3 against BYU (4/9) with four runs, two RBI and a home run.... Went 2-for-4 at San Francisco (4/23) with one run, two RBI, and a home run... went 5-for-9 in the last two games against Gonzaga (5/20-21) to close the season with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
FRESHMAN (2015): Played in 49 games with 44 starts... hit .269 with nine doubles, five home runs, and 26 RBI... helped lead the team to the WCC championship...went 8-11 with three RBI in the BYU series (3/26-28/15)... went 2-4 with two RBI against Gonzaga (4/4)... went 7-12 with three RBI and two doubles in the three game series with Pacific (4/10-12)... went 2-4 with two runs against Nevada (4/20/15)... went 2-4 with two RBI against LMU (5/1/15)... went 2-4 with four RBI against Pepperdine (5/9)... went 2-4 with one double against Long Beach State (5/12/15)... went 2-4 with one double against Pepperdine (5/22/15).
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Canyon Crest Academy...he was a four-time All-Palomar League selection...as a senior, he hit .455, with a .635 OBP, had a .805 Slugging, 1.44 OPS, recorded 35 hits, 10 doubles, five home runs, and had 31 walks...he was selected All-State as a senior...as a junior, he hit .320 with a .446 on-base percentage, while slugging at a .485 clip...he recorded 30 hits, had 10 doubles, and drove in 20 runs as a junior...in his sophomore season, he hit .440 with 34 hits, eight doubles, four triples and had 14 RBI...he was also tabbed the Palomar League Player of the Year runner-up in his sophomore campaign...as a freshman, he hit .348 with 24 hits, six doubles, six triples, and 14 RBI...also lettered in basketball...was drafted in the 37th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs...he also played basketball, where he was a three-year All-League selection, an All-County selection as a senior, while averaging 21 ppg, 15 rpg...he also holds the single-season and career scoring and rebounding records at Canyon Crest Academy.
PERSONAL: He was born on June 26, 1996 in Encinitas, Calif....he is the son of Matt and Shelly Adams...he was also recruited by Stanford, Vanderbilt, Utah, San Francisco, UC Santa Barbara and Washington, but chose to attend USD because the university is compatible with both his academic and athletic interests, as well as the beautiful campus, great baseball stadium, as well as the coaching staff and players on the team...his father Matt played basketball at UC San Diego...notes he is a second degree black belt in Karate.
