  • Chose USD over MIT and Johns Hopkins because of the academic program, the football staff, and the location
  • Boasted an impressive 4.49 weighted GPA, Micale graduated in the top five of his class of more than 300 students
  • A two-time Academic All-State pick, he was an AP Scholar with Distinction and earned an invitation to the National Council of Science and Mathematics Conference
  • As a senior, Micale was named the American Chemical Society Student of the Year, and he was a member of the National Honor Society
  • Micale made substantial contributions to his school and community
  • In addition to volunteering at youth sports camps and being a youth wrestling instructor, he spent time during summers as an outdoor academic lab leader and a counselor at Fit to be Kids Summer Camp
  • In 2017, Micale was named Pomona High School’s Male Athlete of the Year, Jefferson County’s Male High School Athlete of the Year and the recipient of the 2017 Male Freddie Steinmark Award
  • At Pomona, he was also a regional champion and Academic All-State wrestler while winning a Colorado state title in the discus
