USD: Returns as a fourth-year starting cornerback ... Was named 2008 PFL 1st Team as a defensive back... Last season appeared in all 11 games for the Toreros while totaling 42 tackles (30 solo)... Ranked 17th in the PFL in passes defended including 6 pass breakups and 1 interception (5 yard return)... In 2007 appeared in all 11 games while totaling 55 tackles (41 solo), 1 interception (26 yard return), and 7 pass breakups... Twice totaled a game high 10 tackles (Dayton & Morehead State)... Named the PFL Freshman of the Year in 2006 including a season-best 7 tackles (6 solo) in his final game at Jacksonville... Played in first nine games; missed final three due to illness. High School: Prepped at Oak Park... Senior year named Defensive MVP and Captain... Totaled 40+ tackles and 4 interceptions... Junior year team went 12-2... Also lettered in track & field where he was named team MVP during his senior campaign, and Sprinter of the Year in his junior year. Personal: Born on January 8, 1988 in Chesapeake, VA... Parents are Portia & Cleavant Derricks of Oak Park, CA... Chose USD for great school with beautiful location, excellent football program and strong academics... Also recruited by Cal Poly, Cal Lutheran, and Redlands... Enjoys spending time with family and friends. Major: Sociology.
