Nicknamed “Yeezy” … Attended Bishop Walsh School in Bel Air, Maryland after moving to the United States from Turkey in 2017 … Comes from a basketball-playing lineage as his father played professional basketball in Turkey while his mother played on the Turkish national team … Was originally recruited by Virginia Tech, Minnesota, Nebraska, TCU, Northwestern, DePaul, Georgetown, Kansas State, Penn State, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure before selecting Texas A&M in 2019 … Committed to Virginia Tech in November 2018 but de-committed in April 2019 before committing to the Aggies as head coach Buzz Williams also went from the Hokies to Texas A&M.
