Amber Schisler rejoined the San Diego softball staff in September 2024 and enters her third season back in 2027, marking her fifth season overall as the Toreros' pitching coach. Schisler originally joined the program as a volunteer assistant in October 2019 and was elevated to a full-time role in January 2021, before spending two years building softball programs in New Zealand and returning to Alcalá Park in 2024.

In 2025, Schisler's pitching staff turned in one of its most memorable stretches, as McKenna Braegelmann threw a no-hitter on the road at LMU and came back to toss a complete game the very next day. In 2026, Kelsey Tadlock earned WCC Pitcher of the Week honors on March 23, and Kaitlyn Bartlow picked up All-WCC Honorable Mention recognition.

Between her two USD stints, Schisler spent 2022 through 2024 in New Zealand, working as the Lower North Island Development Officer for the Wellington Softball Association. There, she built softball development programs from the ground up — securing funding, booking fields, hiring staff and creating pathways for players from beginner to national-team level, along with training initiatives for coaches, umpires and scorers. She also served as Wellington's Representative Head Coach for the U19 girls, guiding the squad to a fifth-place finish in 2023 and sixth in 2024, and worked as an independent facilitator for High Performance Sport New Zealand, mentoring junior and national-team athletes across multiple sports after training and certifying through Raise My Game.

In her first season as a full-time assistant, 2021, Schisler helped build one of the most dominant pitching staffs in program history — the Toreros posted a 2.95 team ERA, their lowest since 2014, while McKenna Braegelmann and Madison Earnshaw both earned All-WCC Second Team honors and the staff collected two WCC Pitcher of the Week awards.

Before crossing to San Diego, Schisler spent time on the international coaching circuit, serving as an assistant coach for the Austrian Women's Senior National Team at the 2019 European Championships after also assisting the Austrian Women's Junior National Team at the 2018 U22 European Championships. She has continued to play internationally throughout her coaching career, appearing for Witches Linz in Austria (2017-19), Western Magpies in Auckland (2017-18) and Kaiapoi Queens in Christchurch (2022-24), and spending the summer of 2024 with Neptunus in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She has also played as a pickup player in two European Winners Cups — for Caserta in Italy (2017) and Eagles Prague in the Czech Republic (2019) — and as a regional select player in New Zealand for Auckland (2018) and Hawkes Bay (2024).

A native of Santee, Calif., Schisler began her college career at McNeese State before transferring to Campbell University, where she closed out her eligibility as one of the program's most decorated players. She was named the 2017 Big South Player of the Year and a First-Team all-conference selection in both 2016 and 2017, served as team captain in 2017, and earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America and NFCA All-American Scholar-Athlete honors. Schisler graduated magna cum laude from Campbell in 2017 with a degree in finance and a minor in mathematics, posting a 3.70 GPA, made the Dean's List all four years and the President's List in 2016 and 2017, and received the 2017 Lundy-Fetterman Faculty Award for Excellence in Finance.
