JUNIOR (2006-07): Became the first player in the history of the program to be named the WCC Co-Player of the Year...was named first-team All-WCC...led the nation in assists at 7.6 per game...played a huge role in the biggest turn around in program history, a 12-game improvement...helped lead the team to the best record in program history at 21-9...was the only player to play and start in all 30 games...was third on the team in points per game at 9.1, second in rebounding at 6.2 rpg, led the team in steals with 83 to set a new program record for single-season steals...set a new program record for single-season assists with 230 and single-game assists with 14...set the new program record for single-game steals at 10 in a win against Holy Cross (12.28/06)...posted a team-best eight double-doubles...scored a season-high 19 points against Gonzaga (1/27/07)...scored a career-high 14 assists in a win against San Diego State (11/19/06)...recorded double-digit assists in 12 games...was named the WCC Player of the Month for December...was named the WCC Player f the Week on twice.
SOPHOMORE (2005-06)
Played in 21 games with three starts...averaged 7.1 points per game while averaging 25.5 minutes per contest...set a new single-season record for steals with 75...lead WCC in steals and assists...missed most of February due to illness...scored a career-high 23 points against Santa Clara (1/14/06), a game in which she went 3-for-4 from the three point line...registered a career-high 11 assists against Pennsylvania (11/27/05)...scored 16 points against Arizona State (11/20/05).
FRESHMAN (2004-05)
Immediate impact player as a true freshman... Started the first six games of the season... Appeared in all 28 games for USD, averaging over 24 minutes of playing time per contest... Scored a season-high 16 points twice, first against Clemson (11/26, a game in which she made good on 4-of-5 three-point attempts, while also totaling five assists and four rebounds... Put up 16 points at Pepperdine (2/5) on 7-of-13 shooting from the field... Dished out a season-best 10 assists and had 15 points against Portland (2/17) late in the year... Shot 32% (21-of-65) from the three-point line during the season... Totaled 93 rebounds, averaging over three rebounds (3.3) on the season... Totaled 77 assists (2.8 apg) and 161 points (5.8 ppg).
HIGH SCHOOL
Starred at San Diego[apos]s Mission Bay High School... Led the Buccaneers to a pair of CIF Division III titles... Named a First Team All-CIF performer as a senior, and the Western League MVP... Poured in 17 points per contest during her final prep season, leading the Bucs to a 27-4 record... As a junior in 2003, Rego helped Mission Bay post a 26-5 record and was named a First-Team All-State player... Also as a junior, Rego averaged 18 points per game and over seven assists... Named to the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team... Played with the `Below the Rim[apos] club program.
OFF THE COURT
Born on July 4, 1986 in San Diego... Daughter of John and Gilda Rego... Was also recruited by New Mexico, Pepperdine and UC Santa Barbara... Chose to attend USD because of the location and the coaching staff... High school teammate of current USD center Amber Sprague.
