JUNIOR (2009): Played in 20 out of 21 matches and started in 18 of those matches...helped the Torero defense reach an overall GAA of 1.21, and post seven shutouts... helped the team finish second in the prestigious West Coast Conference and earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament...had one goal this season which was also the game winning-goal against San Francisco (10-18-09) that resulted in a 3-2 win...also had two assists this season...one against Pepperdine (10-25-09) and one against Gonzaga (10-30-09). SOPHOMORE (2008): Played in eight matches as a defender for the Toreros...helped the team bolster a 0.75 GAA...helped the team receive a national ranking as high as No. 11... helped the team advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament...scored one goal against UC Riverside (9-26-08). FRESHMAN (2007): Has played in 19 matches with 10 starts for the Toreros as a mainstay in the defense...has been a key defensive player by helping to secure the team[apos]s 10 shutouts this season, to include defensive stops against sixth-ranked UCLA (9/14/07) and fifth-ranked Santa Clara (10/14/07)...has been a huge help in the team bolstering a 0.69 goals-against-average. HIGH SCHOOL: Earned four varsity letters playing soccer for coach John Gilson at Ursuline High School...was named first-team All-North Bay League all four years...was tabbed the League[apos]s MVP as a junior...during her junior season, she helped lead the team to a No. 1 National ranking...as a senior was named the Press Democrat Scholar Athlete of the Year for Ursuline High School...played club soccer for the Santa Rosa United U-18 Gold team...helped her club team to the Surf Cup championship twice and to the State Cup North once.

PERSONAL: Adelaide Cartan was born on April 20, 1989 in Santa Rosa, Calif....is the daughter of Jim and Nancy Cartan...was heavily recruited by Stanford, Pennsylvania, Brown, Oregon and Washington...chose to attend USD because of the outstanding women[apos]s soccer program, the academic reputation of USD and because of the location.
