FRESHMAN (2014): Played in 13 matches with one start...recorded one assist for one point...helped lead USD into the NCAA Tournament... helped the Torero defense bolster eight shutouts, and a goals-against-average of 1.33...recorded her one assist in a win against San Francisco (10/23/14).
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB: Prepped at San Juan Hills High School...was a four-year letter winner in soccer...also competed in lacrosse and track...was a three-time scholar athlete...was a two-time second-team All-CIF selection...as a senior, she was named the MVP, was All-CIF, and named the Stallion Female Athlete of the Year...played club soccer for the San Diego Surf...helped lead her club team to the Surf Cup Championship in 2012, was also selected Surf Female Athlete of the Year in 2012...helped her team win the ECNL conference championship in 2012-13...was a ECNL National finalist in 2013-14.
PERSONAL: Ashley Chanel Cordero was born November 21, 1996 in Orange, Calif....she is the daughter of Chris and Mary Cordero...was also recruited by Santa Clara, Loyola Marymount and a few other schools....chose to attend USD because of the location, the academic reputation and the outstanding women's soccer program...notes that she loves the TV show "Bones," and that show has inspired her to become a Forensic Anthropologist or join the CIA.
