San Diego, CA- Amanda Clift banked in a shot with 30 seconds remaining in double overtime to allow visiting New Mexico State a 79-75 double overtime win over San Diego Thursday night. Aggie senior Princess Moore led all scorers with 30 points while classmate Sinnamonn Garrett totaled 27. San Diego's record moved to 1-4 while New Mexico State improved to 4-1.
Marta Menuez (Bodega, CA) matched a career-high with 26 points for San Diego. The Toreros also received a career-high 18 from sophomore standout Brandi Collato (Del Mar, CA). Collato connected on one of her four three-pointers as the first half came to a close- evening the game at 30 after 20 minutes of play.
Torero sophomore Lindsay Helvey's three-pointer with 2:07 remaining gave San Diego its biggest lead of the night, 60-52. New Mexico State took advantage of four USD turnovers in the final two minutes, and 38 on the night, to score the final eight points of the half and send the game into overtime.
With San Diego clinging to a six-point lead in the waning moments of regulation, Aggie Sinnamonn Garrett scored on consecutive possessions to push the game into overtime. Garrett and Moore, would account for 72% of the Aggie offense in front of 227 fans at San Diego's Jenny Craig Pavilion.
San Diego senior Melissa Padgett added a career-best 14 rebounds for a Torero team that will try and snap a three-game losing skid on Saturday when they host Long Beach State at 2pm.
